The XVII International Blue Marlin Tournament is ready for 26-28 July in Cabeza de Toro, announced organizers of the Santo Domingo Yacht Club. This is the leading fishing tournament held in the Punta Cana area every year. The Santo Domingo Yacht Club is host to the event from its Cabeza de Toro facility, right on the beach. Expected are around 80 fishermen from the DR and abroad. Some 25 fishing yachts are expected from Puerto Rico alone. The tournament’s opening party is set for Thursday, 26 July at 6:30 pm at the Cabeza de Toro facility. The sports fishermen take off on Friday, 27 July at 7:30 pm, with fishing continuing on Saturday, 28 July. To be eligible for a prize, the blue marlin must weigh at least 400 pounds. All marlins weighing more than 400 pounds can be boated, with a point per pound. In case the fishermen decides to release the marlin, they will receive an additional 450 points per marlin returned to the sea.
