Manny is doing his job at the Los Angeles Dodgers. Within his first 24 hours, he already had blasted his 511th home run on Saturday that lead the Dodgers to a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. And then again on Sunday, he batted a three-run producing homerun, his 512th, in the 9-3 victory over the Diamondbacks. Manny Ramirez is now the 20th in the history of MLB in homeruns.
And better still for the Dodgers. He is drawing the fans to the stadium. LA Times reports that 8,000 more fans bought tickets to the first game he would play after the trade was announced. Manny Ramirez, and his locks, came to the Dodgers after a three player trade was negotiated with the Boston Red Sox, where he said he no longer felt comfortable playing. There is speculation whether Manny Ramirez could eventually take the Dodgers to the World Series. USA Today reports that the Dodgers are seen as having a 40% chance at reaching the World Series playoffs, but only a 15% chance at winning the Series. Meanwhile, the DR is getting great advertising in the Los Angeles area, as finds are constantly reminded that he is Latin, from the Dominican Republic.
