Sans Souci port director Luis Molina says that the international financial crisis will not affect the DR’s ports as he expects an estimated 82,000 visitors, 22% more than last year, with projected revenues of US$9.8 million. Molina said that the cruise ship industry is guided by “lead time” which means that reservations are made six to seven months in advance. He said that if there is ever a decrease in visitors it is because it becomes difficult to sell unsold spots on the cruise ships.
