Taste of Dominican rum in the US

Brugal is launching its Brugal Extra Viejo Rum in the US. The company is recommending the purchase of the top popular brand for gift giving. Brugal is the largest-selling rum brand in the DR and is among the top five rum brands in the world.

“For years, Brugal enthusiasts have asked us to make Extra Viejo available within the US,” said Gustavo Ortega, Brugal’s Maestro Ronero, or Rum Master, and fifth generation descendant of founder Don Andres Brugal.

In his book “Kindred Spirits,” leading US Spirits authority Paul Pacult referred to Brugal Extra Viejo as “stunning…all the sensory delights promised in the color and nose are fulfilled in a balanced stately manner.”

Extra Viejo, meaning extra old, is a sophisticated and elegant rum. A blend of older reserves, it commands attention with its mesmerizing, dark crystallized amber appearance and mouth-watering bouquet of raisins, toasted oak and pipe tobacco notes. Its textured, seemingly weightless body delivers long-lasting flavors that include French roast coffee, warm toffee, hot cocoa and hints of nutmeg and anise. Ideally, Brugal Extra Viejo Rum should be sipped straight or on the rocks.

Well-known for its characteristic smoothness, the super-premium Brugal Extra Viejo has been widely sought by American consumers, who previously could only buy this prized rum in the Dominican Republic. Brugal Extra Viejo is available in select restaurants, bars and retail outlets in the US. The suggested retail price in the US for the 750 ml size is $24.99 in the US.
