Rural tourism

A new website inviting domestic and international tourists to discover rural tourism in the Dominican Republic was recently launched. Created by Miguelina Butron, a former Viva Dominicus sales executive, the site features a selection of companies that offer alternatives to sun and sand tourism. First options offered are gastronomic tourism, agri-tourism, adventure and ecotourism packages. It also offers excursions to Barahona and Enriquillo Lake, Bahia de las Aguilas beach, Jima waterfalls, Playa Rincon in Samana, waterfalls in Blanco, in Monsenor Nouel, the rain forest reserve in Quita Espuela, San Francisco de Macoris and cacao trails in Salcedo, the Ebano Verde precious tree reserve near Constanza, hiking to Duarte Peak and Valle del Tetero.
