The Barcelo Rum company has opened the Centro Historico Ron Barcelo (CHRB) in San Pedro de Macoris, an easy trip from Santo Domingo, Boca Chica, Juan Dolio, Guayacanes or La Romana.
Barcelo Export Import (BEICA) recently inaugurated the center, located at the company’s rum aging and warehousing installations in San Pedro de Macoris. The museum tells the history of rum making in the Dominican Republic, its role in Dominican culture and the rum manufacturing process.
Key executives Pelayo de la Mata, Jose Alberto Garcia, Jose Manuel de la Mata, general manager Alberto Nogueira, marketing director Vinicio Subero and center coordinator Paola Labour attended the inauguration of the new facility.
Labour said that the tour is a cultural experience that also includes rum tasting and a shop where tourists can purchase a range of the rums produced. It is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.
The tour is another of the new attractions now accessible in less than two hours by tourists staying at Punta Cana hotels since the new Coral Highway opened last week.
