The concert season begins on 12 September in Santo Domingo, continuing through 28 November. Every 15 days there will be a Wednesday concert at the National Theater main hall. The season opens with a Brahms symphony gala concert with Israeli cellist Amit Peled as guest artist. Maestro Jose Antonio Molina, director of the National Symphony said he seeks to attract young crowds. The Wednesday rehearsals are open to visits by schools in the Dominican Republic, said Molina, and these sessions are held with the schoolchildren in mind with the aim of cultivating new appreciation for music among students.
