Daniel Hernandez to head La Romana hotel association

Daniel Hernandez, general manager of Casa de Campo, is the new president of the La Romana-Bayahibe Hotels Association (2012-2014). A graduate of the Universidad Externado hotel school in Colombia, Hernandez has worked in the industry for more than 30 years. He has worked at La Fontana, Hoteles Royal, Suites Lugano Imperial in Colombia, at the Allegro and Occidental hotel chains in Mexico, and as director of operations of the Royal Hideaway Resort & Spa in Playacar, member of The Leading Hotels of the World. In 2003 he moved to the Dominican Republic to manage the Sunscape Casa del Mar and be regional director for AMResorts for the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, prior to being appointed general manager at Casa de Campo in La Romana. He replaces Luis Emilio Rodriguez Amiama, who was recently voted president of the National Hotel & Tourism Association (Asonahores).

The other members of the new board at AHRB are: Daniel Hernandez (Casa de Campo), president; Cristiano Bertelli (Hotel Be Live Canoa), vice president; Ivan Cunillera (Catalonia Gran Dominicus), treasurer; Renzo Chiapello (Viva Wyndham Dominicus), secretary; Amando Pozo (Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus) and Julio Angel Pena (Dreams La Romana), members. Oscar San Martin (Compania de Electricidad de Bayahibe) will represent non-hotel members, and Daniel Flaquer (Tropical Tours) will represent the La Romana-Bayahibe Tourism Cluster (CTRB).

The AHRB was created in 2000 to promote sustainable development in the destination.
