Brazilian construction company Odebrecht is on schedule for the construction of the northern stretch of the new highway network linking developments along the Punta Cana coastline. The new stretch will link Bavaro to Uvero Alto-Miches and Sabana de la Mar, from where tourists can cross the bay to Samana. The stretch connects to the Boulevard Turistico del Este that in turn connects to the Coral Highway, also built by Odebrecht, which puts tourists half an hour from La Romana and 2-1/2 hours from Santo Domingo.
As reported in Diario Libre, the highway includes the construction of a tourist port in Samana.
The construction includes 10 new bridges and repair of a further 20.
As reported, the highway is scheduled for completion between April and November 2014.
