Successful sustainable tourism fair

Hundreds of people enjoyed the weekend of “Adventurate 2013,” the first sustainable tourism fair held in the Dominican Republic, on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March. The event was organized by the Dominican Tourist Competitiveness Consortium (CDCT) as a way of providing a space for small and medium-sized Dominican tourism companies to show off what they offer. The fair was held in the grounds of the National Botanical Garden in Santo Domingo. Exhibitors included boutique hotels, eco-lodges, rural housing, cultural excursions and adventure trips. The event also featured gastronomy and crafts from several parts of the country like San Jose de Ocoa and Bonao.

The fair also provided networking opportunities for participating business owners.

The event was supported in part by USAID funding and over 50 organizations were represented.
