Audio guides for deaf visitors

Audio guides for people with hearing impairments are now available at the Cathedral, Alcazar, Casas Reales Museum and Dominican Museum of Man. The guides come with a small screen where international interpreter Elisabeth Horky provides explanations about the monuments in sign language, as reported in Diario Libre. Audio Guide Dominicana, which installed the system at leading Dominican historical sites, has been offering the service since May. The interpreter uses American Sign Language for the English version and an adaptation to Dominican sign language for the Spanish version. Audio Guide Dominicana says the service will soon also be available for the Fortaleza Ozama, Museo de la Resistencia, Museo de Arte Moderno, Museo de la Familia and Convento de los Dominicos, along with others in the Colonial City.
