The best of women volleyball from Puerto Rico (ranked 18th), Serbia (ranked 9th) and the Czech Republic (24th) will play the Dominican women’s national team (ranked 10th) starting 2 August at the Volleyball Pavilion at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo. This is an eliminatory round for the World Grand Volleyball Prix. The event will run on 2, 3 and 4 August.
The opening day, Friday 2 August, sees Czech Republic facing Puerto Rico at 5pm followed by the match of Serbia and Dominican Republic at 7:30pm.
On Saturday and Sunday the starting times are 2:30pm and 5pm with Serbia facing Czech Republic and Puerto Rico against Dominican Republic on 3 August, and Serbia v Puerto Rico and Czech Republic v Dominican Republic on 4 August.
The DR enters into the competition having won a bronze medal at the Montreux Volley Masters in Switzerland and then a silver medal at the Pan American Cup in Peru.
This FIVB event is organized by the Dominican Volleyball Confederation (Codovoli), and Norceca, the North, Central and Caribbean Volleyball grouping.
The World Grand Prix is the FIVB’s annual international volleyball competition involving the world’s best female players. This year the finals will be played in Sapporo, Japan.
Other host cities for the World Grand Volleyball Prix are: Ankara (Turkey), Campinas (Brazil), Macao (China) and Montichiari (Italy).
