Delicious soursop ice cream at Helados Bon

Tasting the fruits of the land is a top treat for travelers. Visitors to the Dominican Republic should head for one of the more than 300 Helados Bon ice cream shops nationwide and order a cup or “barquito” of “helado de guanabana.”

Guanabana or soursop (Annona muricata) is a green and irregularly shaped fruit whose creamy white pulp can be eaten fresh and has traditionally been made into shakes, smoothies and other foods and beverages, but it is not so easy to find here.

Now Helados Bon makes it easy to taste this delicious tropical fruit.

Helados Bon also sells sorbets and popsicles made with passion fruit, coconut and tamarind.
