Paradisus Resorts brings a Slow Food-style experience to guests staying in Punta Cana at the Passion gourmet restaurant. Enjoy a dinner that is designed for food lovers who appreciate savoring the tastes at a slow pace, one after another.
It is the creation of Spanish six-Michelin-star chef, Martin Berasategui, who has more Michelin stars than any other Spanish chef as of 2013. Berasategui has created Passion at Paradisus Palma Real, a contemporary gourmet restaurant at the resort where a seven-course dinner lasting two-to-three hours is served, mainly for Paradisus guests, but it is also open to guests at other resorts with reservations. Local and international ingredients are paired with excellent reserve wines.
An example of a dish created with local ingredients for the sampler menu is pigeon pea stew with coriander, ginger, lobster and taro cream.
Passion offers a choice of ordering specific dishes or going for their Tasting Menu that comes with a wine tasting menu, too. They will accept substitutions for any of the dishes on the tasting menu that one cannot have for whatever reason. Waiters explain each serving and there are generous servings of wine.
Anyone choosing to splurge on this dinner should be prepared to go slow, tasting each course slowly and enjoying the very good wines that are served. Decor, service, culinary experience, wines make it all very good value for the US$75 price, including the wine.
There are two Passion restaurants in Punta Cana, one at the Paradisus Palma Real and another at the Paradisus Punta Cana.
The restaurant gets excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. It was elected the best restaurant in the Caribbean by Trip Advisor Traveler’s Choice Restaurant Awards in 2013.
