DR has most expensive broadband Internet

The former president of the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), now senator Jose Rafael Vargas (PLD-Espaillat /Moca) has denounced the fact that Dominican consumers have to pay the highest broadband rates in Latin America due what he says is a lack of investment and expansion of the service. He said that when he left Indotel there was a RD$953 million fund for investment in expanding the service, but it has not been implemented. “With that investment, people in rural areas could have access to the Internet,” he said. He stressed the importance of having access to the Internet.
