President Danilo Medina attended yesterday, 4 August 2014, the lunch held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Educa Foundation (Business Action for Education), whose president is Elena Viyella.
At the lunch, Viyella thanked the President for all he had done for education in the country, making it a priority for his government and being the first President to comply with the law that stipulates that 4% of GDP is to be used to fund the education sector. She also highlighted the President’s program to stamp out illiteracy throughout the country, and the building of new schools and classrooms so that all schools could transition to the full day school program.
