Living Statues: Plaza de Espana, Malecon and Jarabacoa

Now in its fifth year, the Estatuas Vivas Festival brings living statues to public spaces in Santo Domingo and Jarabacoa on 29, 30 and 31 August 2014. Fifty artists are taking part this year, competing for prizes ranging from RD$45,000 to RD$20,000. The event is organized by Guillermo Liriano Bass and Claudia Lizardo.

The mannequins will pose for several hours at a time at the Plaza de Espana from 6pm on Friday, 29 August. On Saturday, 30 August, the exhibition continues at the Parque Eugenio Maria de Hostos on Santo Domingo’s Malecon seafront boulevard. The group will then travel to Jarabacoa on Sunday, 31 August where they will perform at the city’s Parque Duarte from 3:30pm onwards.
