The Medina government is complying with the law that requires the government to spend 4% of GDP on pre-university education, but Diario Libre points out today, Monday 6 October 2014, that the time has come to change the laws that peg budgetary allocations to percentage of GDP.
As reported, Congress pegged the state university allocation to 5% of GDP, city governments to 10% and judiciary to 4.10%, just to mention some examples. As reported, these assignments would represent 38% of the RD$630.9 billion budget set for 2015 if they were met.
