No date for resumption of IMF talks

The Diario Libre reports that although there is no official date for the negotiations between the International Monetary Fund and the Dominican authorities to resume, there is a meeting planned for today at the IMF directorate which will consider the country’s application for the suspension of the agreement to be lifted. Finance Minister Rafael Calderon and Technical Secretary to the Presidency Carlos Despradel have said that the country has fulfilled all the IMF prerequisites and they expressed hope that the disbursements would resume by the end of the month. The first disbursement alone is estimated to be worth US$320 million. Despradel traveled to Washington yesterday for meetings with various financial organizations.
