Cemex security chief dies in helicopter crash

The Cemex security chief, Juan Arturo Maceo Castaneda, who is also a deacon in the Catholic Church, was killed in a helicopter crash on Saturday, 1 November 2014. Another passenger in the HI419 helicopter, priest Roberto Adriano Bristman and pilot Victor Rodriguez were injured. The helicopter came down in sugarcane fields near Batey El Moruno and the Cristobal Colon sugar mill in the southeastern province of San Pedro de Macoris, confirmed Emmanuel Soufront Tamayo of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) Aviation Accidents Investigative Commission. The injured men were taken to the Plaza de la Salud hospital in Santo Domingo by helicopter ambulance.

The pilot had warned that he would be making an emergency landing because of unusual vibrations.

The helicopter, which belongs to Servicios Aereos Profesionales had taken off on a flight from San Pedro de Macoris to Santo Domingo.
