Yesterday evening, Tuesday 18 November 2014, Supreme Court Judge Frank Soto ordered the lifting of legal restraint orders on transactions with properties identified as belonging to PLD Senator Felix Bautista’s company, Rofi SRL.
He said that the Attorney General Office had violated the legal process when placing the orders without a warrant from a judge.
He went on to say that Bautista’s fundamental rights as guaranteed by article 50 of the Dominican Constitution had been violated independently of the crimes under investigation.
Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito responded by saying that the culture of impunity persists and that it was irresponsible to lift the notice of warning regarding the sale or transfer on 112 properties belonging to Inmobiliaria Rofi, SRL whose main shareholder is senator Felix Bautista. Bautista is the ruling PLD party’s organizational secretary.
He is under investigation by the Attorney General Office for large-scale wealth accumulation during his term as director of the Supervisory Office of Public Works of the Presidency during the Fernandez administrations.
