The Central Electoral Board (JCE) publishes a resolution today that sets 27 June as the date for a second round, if needed. Seeing as this date is three days earlier than what is established in the 1994 Constitution that instated the second round, the electoral process could be affected should any dispute arise. While this has yet to be discussed, a political sector not in agreement with the outcome of the second round could call to nullify the results on grounds that the election was held on a date that violated the Constitution. The JCE did not publicly explain the reason for the change. A second round takes place if none of the running candidates reaches the 50%+1 votes needed to win in a first round.
