Santo Domingo provincial judge Bernardo Coplin has jailed on remand a police officer and a civilian accused of murdering a 15-year old girl on Saturday, 13 December 2014 in the Villa Espana motel on the Las Americas highway, in Santo Domingo East.
Francisco Tavarez Portorreal and Geudys Gady Trinidad have been sent to La Victoria jail on remand for three months in connection with the murder of Jessica Elaine Sabab Perez, as requested by prosecutor Olga Dina Llaverias.
The investigations have revealed that Tavarez Portorreal is thought to have carried out the murder after she refused to have sexual relations with him, so he went to his friend’s room in the same motel, took his firearm and shot the young girl in the neck.
A photo of the victim was circulated on Facebook and other social media, causing distress to the family.
