Chinese national Nieves Xue Wu will represent the Dominican Republic in the Athens Olympic Games, after qualifying during the trial tournament held in Valdivia, Chile. Xue Wu defeated her Chilean contender 4-0 to win the right to compete in Athens, where she will be one of four team members to represent the DR. Her team mates are Lin Ju, who qualified for the Olympics with the win of his gold medal in the Pan Am Games held in Santo Domingo last August, Johanny Valdez and Roberto Brito.
Also on his way to Athens is Gabriel Mercedes, who was qualified in tae kwon do during the Olympic trials of that sport held recently in Mexico.
