It looks like an ad for a gymnasium, but it is a story in El Caribe that tells of the Walkers’ Club at the Botanical Gardens. The 2 million square meters of the park are open daily to the members of the Walkers Club, who pay RD$1,000 per year per family to enjoy the beauty and safety of a real “walk in the park.” Over 500 people now belong to the club and use the pathways from very early morning until well into the evening. The park has six motorized patrol agents to keep an eye on things. Founded by President Balaguer in 1976, the Rafael Moscoso Botanical Gardens honor the first Dominican botanist.
