Punta Cana is mentioned as one of the top destinations chosen by US college spring breakers in 2015, as reported by Boston Globe (fourth on the list) and Fox News (third on the list).
As reported in the Boston Globe, using sources from Orbitz.com, U.S. News & World Report, NYTimes.com, TripAdvisor.com and Weather.com, Punta Cana is on the list of the Top 10 spring break destinations. According to Orbitz.com booking data, the Top 10 are: Las Vegas, Cancun, Orlando, Punta Cana, New York City, New Orleans, Chicago, Miami Beach, Playa del Carmen, and Riviera Maya. As reported, Riviera Maya replaced San Juan, Puerto Rico on the 2015 list.
Spring break vacations are taken from 8-14 March, 15-21 March, or 22-28 March.
Fox News features a similar list saying these are the places where college students will find the best parties. Their list is: Panama City Beach in Florida, Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Las Vegas, Miami Beach, Cancun, South Padre Island (Texas), Lake Havasu City (Arizona) and New Orleans. Punta Cana’s popularity is attributed to the opening of the Coco Bongo nightclub, Drink Point on Bavaro Beach and savings to be made by booking an all-inclusive vacation.
