Mexican businesses have increased their investment in Dominican tourism. A recent report in Hoy indicates that the DR is fourth in foreign investment by Mexican businesses in Latin America. The number of Mexican tourists traveling to the DR in 2014 doubled. Marco Antonio Sanchez, executive vice president of the Dominican-Mexican Chamber of Commerce (Cadomex) says that Mexican foreign investment in the country is now at US$6.8 billion. Mexican tourist arrivals to the DR increased from 15,000 in 2013 to 32,000 in 2014.
