New Casa de Campo access road honors King Juan Carlos I

Casa de Campo has named the new entry to the La Romana resort after His Majesty Juan Carlos I, Emeritus King of Spain. The King Juan Carlos I Avenue leads into the property providing direct access from the La Romana Casa de Campo International Airport.

The King was in La Romana last week for the 13th Parents and Children meeting of wealthy Latin American families at Casa de Campo. The event focused on generational transitions.

The formal inauguration of the new road was held to coincide with his visit. The King was staying at Casa Grande as the guest of his longtime friend, Jose (Pepe) Fanjul, the main shareholder of Casa de Campo.

President Danilo Medina and King Juan Carlos I led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was also attended by brothers Alfy and Pepe Fanjul, Ramon A. Menendez, Gustavo Cisneros, Felipe Vicini, the Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo and Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ramon Peralta.

Although the new access road was open during the Parents and Children event, the date for its general use by property owners and guests is yet to be announced. The initial plan is to open it for use with automatic entry permits while the other facilities are being completed.

The Parents and Children Organization was founded by a large group of businesspeople from the Spanish-speaking world, including Pepe Fanjul, Carlos Slim and Gustavo Cisneros. The hosts of the Dominican Republic meeting included the Corripio and Vicini families.
