Big Five fishing tournament at Cap Cana

The Marina at Cap Cana is hosting the “Dominican Republic Big Five Fishing Open & Nautical Trade Show 2015.” The fishing and trade show takes place from 8-12 July 2015 with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism. Alma Taveras, director of the organizing company, WT Events Planner Box, said that fishermen from the USA, Puerto Rico, South America and Central America are coming for the event. The trade show will be open to the general public on Friday and Saturday, 11-12 July 2015 from 10am.

Chef Leandro Diaz is booked for a cooking show and there will be folkloric performances and other events. Fishing tournament funds are being set aside to benefit the education of poor children in the area. The technical director of the fishing tournament, Miguel Tirado said that the tournament would take place under the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) catch-and-release rules for blue, white marlin and sail fish.

Prizes include a luxury vehicle for the fisher who captures a white marlin, blue marlin and sail fish in the same day and five blue marlins during each of the three days of the tournament.
