The Specialized Border Security (Cesfront) has announced the arrest of 175 undocumented Haitians when they attempted to enter illegally from Haiti, as reported in El Caribe. The arrests of 100 men, 50 women and 25 children took place at La Vigia, Dajabon, Don Miguel, and Santiago de la Cruz y Montes yesterday, Sunday 4 January 2015. Cesfront reported that border security has been reinforced. A new feature of these groups is that the illegal immigrants were English-speaking. As reported in El Caribe, they are thought to have been deported from the Bahamas and are now trying to immigrate to the Dominican Republic with the ultimate aim of getting to Florida, USA.
