According to the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET), the number of vehicles impounded and drivers fined this year for not having a tax sticker (marbete) is now over 1,600 as of yesterday, Monday 5 January 2015.
AMET urged all drivers to purchase their tax stickers, warning that everyone who fails to do so will be fined and risk having their vehicle impounded. The deadline for purchasing was 31 December 2014. Vehicle owners purchasing the sticker after the date have to pay an additional RD$600 on top of the price of the sticker.
