Yesterday evening, Wednesday 7 January 2015 the Estrellas Orientales won their game against the Aguilas Cibaenas 2-1 in 10 innings. The game in the Tetelo Vargas Stadium was a pitching duel that favored the Estrellas. Evan MacLane pitched the first five innings for the Estrellas and was followed by five relief pitchers with Waldis Joaquin picking up the win in the tenth inning. The Aguilas only managed to get two hits during the 10 innings.
In San Francisco de Macoris, the first-place Gigantes defeated the Toros Del Este by a score of 3-1. This is the third straight victory for the Gigantes who maintain a stronghold on first place during this Round Robin phase of the tournament. For the Toros it was their second straight loss and keeps them in the last place among the four semifinal teams.
With the Gigantes currently at 7-2, and the Estrellas and Aguilas at 4-5, three games behind first place, the games to be played this evening, Thursday 8 January 2015 take on even more importance. The Toros will visit the Tetelo Vargas Stadium and send Raul Valdes to the mound, while the Estrellas will counter with Esmil Rogers. The Aguilas will host the Gigantes at the Estadio Cibao. The Aguilas will use Wandy Rodriguez and the Gigantes will start Nick Additon. Both games start at 7:30pm.
