Countdown: 100,000 persons still are illiterate

As of 2 January 2015, some 766,136 people had benefited from “Quisqueya Learns with You”, the literacy program launched at the start of the Medina administration. The 2010 National Census showed that 851,396 people did not know how to read and write, thus, an estimated 100,000 people are still illiterate, said program coordinator Luis Holguin Veras.
