In the next legislative session, the Chamber of Deputies Permanent Committee for Border Issues plans to recommend that the Executive Branch make it a national priority to implement a border security system that will control and regulate immigration and trade with Haiti.
The committee will also recommend that the government prioritize building a road to connect all the border provinces with Haiti.
At a press conference yesterday, Monday 12 January 2015, commission chairman Rafael Mendez said that it had been decided to merge two bills by legislators Vinicio Castillo Seman and Luis Castillo to redress the lack of control along the border that he described as damaging to the Dominican people.
