Santiago shootout kills two including a child and injures five

A four-year old boy was one of two fatalities in a shootout between criminals fighting over a drug sales point in the Fondo de Botella neighborhood in the Pekin district of Santiago.

Charlos Moris Goris died after being hit by a stray bullet, when a suspected criminal, known only as Jairo, started firing at Manuel Antonio Jimenez Padilla, who he reportedly killed to take over his drug dealing operation.

According to the police, Jairo and Jimenez Padilla had old personal scores to settle as they were both involved in the sale and control of a drug sale point, owned by a man only known as “Waly.” Jairo turned up at the sales point with his accomplices and without saying a word started shooting, injuring Padilla and five others.

The injured were named as 22-year old Alexandra Moris, mother of the boy who was killed, 20-year old Alexander Antonio Pena, 20-year old Joana Altagracia Reno, 20-year old Luis Miguel Duran, and a minor whose name was not released for legal reasons.
