JCE says banks authorized use of old cedula through 30 June

The Superintendence of Banks says the Central Electoral Board (JCE) has authorized banks to continue receiving the old ID cards through 30 June for contracting new services and other banking operations, as reported in El Dia today, Wednesday 14 January 2015. The Superintendence says that customers who do not have a renewed ID should present a second document, such as a driver’s license or a passport. As of 30 June, the Superintendence says that the new document will be obligatory for all financial operations. As of the end of the year, around two million Dominicans had still not renewed their ID cards.
