The Ministry of Defense and the Quisqueya Auto Club (QAC) have announced the celebration of the 16th Border Rally 4×4 Aventura for the EcoPetroleo Cup.
The event will take place from 26 February to 1 March and participants will cover a distance of 1,300 km, traveling through 100 towns on roads of which only 20% will be paved. Lieutenant Colonel Ruben Frontal Carran is the coordinator of the event for the Ministry of Defense. He stressed that this is an opportunity to tour difficult mountain roads, and those on the border with Haiti, on a supervised route, with the support of medical services, mechanics and helicopter assistance.
The route will have stops in Santiago, then to Montecristi with stops in El Morro, La Popa beach and Buen Hombre beach. Next inland to San Jose de las Matas, Moncion, El Vallecito, Villa Los Almacigos, Rio Limpio, Guayajayuco, Los Algodones and Villa Anacaona.?The route then returns to the border passing by Restauracion, Capotillo, to the city of Dajabon, and then on to the La Cruz de Manzanillo farm project, La Ensenada beach to return to Santiago, where the rally ends.
Rally participants will leave on Thursday, 26 February at 5pm from the Ministry of Defense on Av. 27 de Febrero.
The general promoter for the event is Jose Liz, with Rafael Ovalle and Neredo B. MacDougall Pina as technical directors.
The event also has the support of the Gasoline Retailers Association, the EcoPetroleo fuel company, Quaker State oil, Dominican Ferries, Mitsubishi Motors, Esca and Ron Macorix.
