Vargas and Fernandez have highest rejection rates

A poll by the Cibao Economic Center (CEC) reveals that the pre-presidential candidates with the highest rejection rates are PRD president Miguel Vargas with 75.6%, down from 78.5% in an October poll, followed by Leonel Fernandez, president of the PLD and former 12-year President of the Republic, with 60.1%, up from 54.4% in the October poll. Former President Hipolito Mejia, who has also announced his aspiration to run for President in 2016, has a rejection rate of 49.2%, up from 45.3% in October. Luis Abinader has a 26.5% rejection rate.

To the CEC question on which candidate they would never vote for, the responses were:

34.5% would never vote for Fernandez, 28% for Vargas, 22.9% for Mejia and 2.3% for Abinader.

The poll was carried out from Friday, 16 January to Sunday, 18 January 2015. 1,500 people were polled and the margin of error is plus or minus 2.5%.
