First Lady to ensure care for sextuplets

First Lady Candida Montilla de Medina has promised the mother of the sextuplets born on Sunday, 8 February 2015 that her office will provide protection, healthcare and food for the babies. She said that she had spoken to the mother who told her that the babies were all in a stable condition.

The First Lady made her pledge yesterday, Monday 9 February 2015 after reopening the refurbished Children, Adolescents and Family Unit that comes under the National District Public Prosecution Service.

National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso said that the unit seeks to strengthen the family. Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito said that he valued the work that Reynoso is doing to prevent violent and criminal behavior within the family.

The unit has a reception area, a kindergarten, two consulting rooms for psychologists, four cubicles for support workers, four offices for prosecutors, meeting room, archives room, kitchen dining area and two reception rooms to receive complaints.

Taiwanese Ambassador Thomas Ping-fu Hou also attended the event, along with the director of the Children, Adolescents and Family Care Unit, Deysi Garcia, as well as legal professionals and Father Fray Quelvin Acevedo from San Miguel parish.
