Guillermo Moreno, president of the Alianza Pais minority party, comments that the results of the latest Gallup poll reveal a new political and electoral landscape. The survey presented eligible voters with four scenarios with candidates for the leading political parties, and for the first time Alianza Pais appears among the parties garnering the most interest, alongside the PRM, PRD and the ruling PLD.
In two of the scenarios, Guillermo Moreno received 23.8% of the vote against Leonel Fernandez (39.8%), Hipolito Mejia (17.8%) and Miguel Vargas (4.7%), and 18.2% against Leonel Fernandez (39%), Luis Abinader (23.9%) and Miguel Vargas (6.3%).
Moreno attributed the high vote to the party’s consistent work over the past few years. “Alianza Pais is a political reality in our country,” he said. He said the party was reacting to the results “with the greatest humility and responsibility.”
The Gallup-Hoy Poll was carried out from 24-27 January 2015 and 1,200 people eligible to vote were interviewed.
