Election ballot approved

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) approved the final format of the ballots to be used in next May?s Presidential elections. According to Loyda Pena, the approved format was one of five submitted to the different parties. The finalized version of the ballot will contain three vertical columns of eight symbols to represent the different parties. The PRD, the PLD and the PRSC will be in the three first boxes. All of the parties will be placed in order according to the number of votes they received in the elections of 2002, when the legislature and local government officials were elected. Editora Corripio will print the 7 million ballots, of which only 5.6 million will actually be used on election day. The political parties will receive 720,000 sample ballots to be used to train their poll watchers and members. Another 680,000 ballots will be used in a dummy run to be held on the 17 and 18 of this month.
