The Dominican Republic is once again taking part in this year’s Coca Cola Cup, the leading youth football event in which 1.3 million school children in 60 countries take part. Now in its seventh year, the cup promotes values such as team spirit, friendship and respect. The DR placed second in the International Coca Cola Cup held last year in Bogota, Colombia.
Coca Cola Company marketing manager Roberto Lapeira made the announcement, accompanied by Dominican Olympic Committee president Luisin Mejia and Dominican Football Federation president Osiris Guzman.
The event is open to young people between the ages of 13-15 and is played mainly between Dominican schools in three regions: Cibao, the East (La Romana and Punta Cana) and Santo Domingo.
