President Danilo Medina visited the Cibao region yesterday, Tuesday 17 February 2015, to inaugurate an aqueduct, two schools and two roads.
The Hermanas Mirabal Aqueduct, which will be supplying water from the River Camu to 144,012 people in 48 communities in the areas of Salcedo, Villa Tapia and Tenares, was built at a cost of around US$110 million
The President then inaugurated the Regino Camilo primary school in Tenares and another primary school in Salcedo. A total of 29 classrooms have been added and will be entering the extended school day program.
President Medina then inaugurated the roads from Villa Tapia to Salcedo and Las Guaranas to La Guisa in Duarte Province.
Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ramon Peralta was present at the events, along with Environment Minister Bautista Rojas Gomez, La Vega Governor Andres Rodriguez Cespedes, Hermanas Mirabal Governor Domingo Payero, Senator Luis Rene Canaan, INAPA Deputy Director Thomas Sanchez, Brazilian Ambassador Jose Marcus Vinicius de Souza, Odebrecht Dominican Republic Director Marcos Antonio Vasconcelos Cruz, Deputy Afif Rizek Camilo from Hermanas Mirabal Province and the mayor of Villa Tapia, Juliano Abud.
