Santiago has a new archbishop. The bishop of the diocese of Bani, 67-year old Monsignor Freddy Antonio de Jesus Breton Martinez was promoted to the post of Santiago’s archbishop. He is originally from Canca la Reina (Licey) in Santiago province, replacing 75-year old Ramon Benito de la Rosa y Carpio.
Pope Francis sent 48-year old Andres Napoleon Romero Cardenas from San Francisco de Macoris, Duarte province to head the Roman Catholic Church in Barahona. He is a native of Ramonal Arriba, Duarte province, and he replaces 76-year old Monsignor Rafael Leonidas Felipe Nunez.
Pope Francis has sent 54-year old father Hector Rafael Rodriguez Rodriguez, from Sanchez (Samana province) to La Vega. Rodriguez was first counselor of the Congregation of Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in Rome. He replaces 76-year old Monsignor Antonio Camilo Gonzalez.
