Two people drowned and an estimated 20,000 had to leave their homes due to heavy rainfall over the weekend. The victims were 12-year old Nasyeli Olivares who drowned in a river in Salcedo and 45-year old Bartolome Santos who drowned while trying to cross an irrigation channel in Nagua.
Street flooding affected Greater Santo Domingo, and heavy rains over the weekend also affected the Cibao region. There was flooding and high surf in Puerto Plata and other northern provinces. Other provinces affected were Monsenor Nouel (Bonao), Santiago, La Vega, Espaillat, Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua), Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui) and Duarte (especially in the Yuna River basin area). San Cristobal, San Juan, Valverde, Santiago Rodriguez, Montecristi, Dajabon and Elias Pina to the west also experienced heavy rainfall.
