The Dominican Republic has asked the Spanish authorities for help with the forensics investigation of the circumstances behind the death of Henri Claude Jean (Tulile). The Haitian national was found hanging, with his hands and feet bound, in the Ercilia Pepin Park in Santiago.
Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito says that the government is doing all that it can to find identify the real murders of the Haitian immigrant.
“We are exploring all the options, including forensic medical help from the Institute of Forensic Sciences of Spain to look into all possibilities,” said Dominguez Brito.
There are several theories on the death, several pointing to the murder being carried out for robbery or to stop him from informing about another murder made by fellow Haitians. The Ministry of Foreign Relations and the Ministry of Interior and Police and the National Police have been emphatic that his murder was not motivated by racism or xenophobia.
Tulile made a living near the Jose Maria Cabral y Baez Hospital in Santiago and was found hanging from a tree in the park on 11 February 2015. Minister of Foreign Relations Andres Navarro has stated that it was the case of a common crime.
