Dominican basketball rookies to watch

ESPN reports on seven Hispanics, including four Dominicans, who are regarded as the emerging stars in basketball in the NCAA tournament in the United States. US. The Dominicans on the list are:

Karl-Anthony Towns, center, University of Kentucky’s Wildcats.

Emmy Andujar, forward, Manhattan College’s Jaspers.

Angel Nunez, forward with Gonzaga College’s Bulldogs.

Joey de la Rosa, center, St. John’s Red Storm.

While Towns has been a regular with the national basketball team, the others are potential players and reserves for the team that played in the 2014 FIBA World Basketball Cup in Spain winning 13th place of 24 teams. The DR needs to qualify at the FIBA Americas Championship that will be held 25 August – 6 September 2015 in Monterrey, Mexico. The first two places in that event win one of the 12 places to compete in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics basketball championship.
