SDQ 10K set for 10 May 2015

Around 4,500 people are expected to run in the 2015 SDQ 10K in Santo Domingo sponsored by Gatorade. The start and finish lines will be near the Juan Baron Plaza/Obelisco Macho on the Santo Domingo Malecon. The race will take runners east of the plaza and then west to finish at the Juan Baron Plaza point.

The race is being promoted as the first official race of the city of Santo Domingo, and has the endorsement of the National District city council (AND) and the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster. The event is organized by Sporter, a sports marketing company.

Runners set off at 4:47pm on the Malecon to run or race the route along the Malecon.

Categories are Overall, Youth, Superior, Masters and Special Athletes with awards ranging from RD$30,000 to RD$3,000. Every runner who completes the race will receive a commemorative medal.

Registration is open through 7 May and costs RD$850 online from 27 March to 10 April, and then RD$950 for registration at Adidas (Sambil), Uepa Tickets, Jumbo and CCN stores. Participation kits will be given out on 9 May at the Gran Salon of the Hotel Sheraton Santo Domingo during the Expo Fit SDQ, from 9:30am to 6:30pm where there will be sports talks, educational talks and physical tests by visiting experts from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.
