A caller identifying himself as Isauris Sanchez, the man accused of firing the shots that killed deputy minister of Energy and Mines Victoriano Santos and his son Victor Manuel Santos during an attack on their home in Cotui on 6 March 2015, now says he was hired to kidnap the minister. He says they did not plan to kill him and his son but things got complicated. Sanchez is in jail in Moca.
In his call to CDN news commentary program, “Enfoque Final,” he did not name the person who contracted them.
Victoriano Santos aspired to be the PLD candidate in the 2016 municipal elections.
“The reason for my call is that the Cotui prosecutors and Victoriano Santos Hilario’s relatives agreed that we would be sent to a jail near our relatives in the capital city and we would give the names of those who paid us for the contract and we gave two, but the politician who lives in Cotui, who is known to the relatives and the Cotui prosecutors do not know the name, so the reason for my call is that if in a week the deal is not fulfilled that name will never be known,” he said.
Police chief Manuel Castro Castillo told the media yesterday, Sunday 4 April 2015, that the investigations into the case continue.
