Festi-Band Foundation president Jose Andres Vidal Hernandez has announced the celebration of Festi-Band at the Palacio de Bellas Artes on 1-2 May. The event brings together the country’s most talented children’s musical bands for two days. During the day, concerts with specific instruments are held as well as contests between school bands. An inaugural concert is scheduled with the Belen Jazz Band and the Festi-Band Jazz Band at 8pm on Friday, 1 May 2015. On Saturday, 2 May, the contest between school bands continues during the day. In the evening a gala concert with the 60-member Dominican Wind Orchestra is scheduled with guest directors John Alden Stanley from the United States and Marlene Urbay from Cuba.
